How to Get Your Flag Approved for Stadium Use

There’s nothing worse than spending time and money on a banner only to have a steward tell you it can’t come in. Avoid the disappointment by following these simple steps to get your flag approved.

Know the Rules

Each club has different guidelines. Some only allow flags under a certain size; others require a fire-retardant certificate for anything over 3ft × 2ft. Check the away club’s website or give their safety officer a call. Our FAQ page covers many common questions.

Get a Fire Certificate

Most stadiums ask for proof that your flag is fire-retardant if it’s larger than a medium size. When you order from us, we can supply a certificate for an additional fee. Keep it in your pocket so you can show stewards at the gate.

Register in Advance

Some clubs – particularly in the Premier League and Championship – ask fans to email the safety office with photos of their flag and its dimensions before matchday. They’ll let you know if it’s approved and where you can display it. Doing this early saves hassle on the day.

Choose the Right Material

Clubs prefer lightweight polyester or nylon that doesn’t get heavy when wet. Heavy cotton banners can be deemed a safety risk. All of our flags are made from materials approved by most UK stadiums, but if you’re in doubt, drop us a message.

Respect the Space

Even if your flag meets all criteria, be mindful of your fellow supporters. Don’t hang it in front of seats people have paid good money for. Stewards reserve the right to move or remove flags that obstruct views, emergency signage or advertising.

By following these tips, you’ll breeze past security and focus on what matters: cheering on your team. Need help getting that certificate or understanding a ground’s policy? We’re here to help – just get in touch via our contact page.
